1. Usb Keyboard Not Working

I upgraded my Dell Windows 10 Pro two weeks ago to the 8000 Version build and found that my USB Mouse and Keyboardwere no longer operational. After several restarts and power downs, did some searching on internet,Found many users having same problems after upgrade, but seems to be no real solution.I restored my system to Version 1709 and mouse and keyboard operational.Does anyone know if Microsoft has patched or repaired this problem?I would like to run upgrade, but not if problems have not been corrected,Looking for information, does anyone know status?Garry. I'm Greg, an installation specialist and 9 year Windows MVP, here to help you.I haven't really seen many USB device failures on 1803, but it's certainly possible.I would go over this checklist to make sure the install is set up correctly, optimized for best performance, and any needed repairs get done:Start with Step 4 to turn off Startup freeloaders which can conflict and cause issues, then Step 7 to check for infection the most thorough way, then step 10 to check for damaged System Files. Then continue with the other steps to go over your install mostthoroughly.If nothing else helps you can run a Repair Install by installing the Media Creation Tool and choosing from it to Upgrade Now.

This reinstalls Windows in about an hour while saving your files, apps and most settings, solves many problems while also bringingit up to the latest version which you need anyway and by the most stable method.-But remember that in Windows 10 everything depends upon the quality of the install, and Factory or Upgrade installs are inferior installs which most enthusiasts won't even run because they'd expect endless issues. Consider now or later doing the Clean Installin this link which compiles the best possible install that will stay that way as long as you stick with the tools and methods given:There is also an automated Fresh Start that reinstalls WIndows while shedding corrupting factory bloatware, saves your files, but doesn't clear the drive to get it cleanest:I hope this helps. Hello Greg,Thanks so much for your reply in reference to my question on the USB Mouse and Keyboard problem.When my mouse and keyboard started failing to be recognized when the Windows 10 Pro1803 upgrade was completed, I found that the Keyboard Caps Lock would not change stateand Mouse DPI Speed selector was no longer Illuminated, mouse had no pointer on screen.I tried restart and power down and up several times, when windows came up not evenable to login due to keyboard in-op. I tried unplug both Keyboard and Mouse I at a time, when plugged back in got USB Device not recognized failure. I searched the internet with Google on another computer and found many problems listed with same problems,also reference to KB4074588 Patch. At that point I used my external hard drive backup before upgrade to return to Version 1709, mouse and keyboard both operational.I appreciate all of your information and suggestions and I will try another upgrade this weekend to check if keyboard and mouse operational or still fail.What do you know about this listed Microsoft file that I downloaded from their Website?windows10.0-kb4074588-x64baacdcd3e652ac24b7f432f3579eef.msu It isover 703,000 KB. Will this upgrade my system to 1803 without having to wait for the upgrade of windows update on line? Hi Charles,I would always manually upgrade to the latest version rather than rely on buggy Windows update.
